CHU is implementing a project on health!
CHU currently is implementing a Family Health project on; Empowering Communities for Sustainable Health Outcomes in Kole District, with funding from USAID Uganda Health Activity (UHA), April 2024-July 2025, with the following objectives;
- To increase ANC1 performance within the 1st trimester currently at 42% to 50%, and increase uptake of ANC 4th contact from 45 % currently to 60 % in Kole district by July 2025
- To improve institutional delivery currently at 58% to 80 % by July 2025.
- To improve childhood immunization coverage from 81% to 95% in Kole district by July 2025.
- To increase uptake of family planning services among adolescents 15-19 years in Kole district by July 2025.
- To increase uptake of Nutrition services among CU5 and pregnant women, and improve WASH at household level in Kole district by July 2025.
The project scope covers the following key thematic areas;
- Maternal Newborn and Child Health services (MNCH) with a focus on increasing First trimester ANC attendance and completion of 8 ANC contacts through reactivation of group antenatal care at the village level, and line listing immunization defaulters for VHTs to follow up and link them to services.
- Delivery with a focus on strengthening referrals for pregnant women to deliver at health facilities through the VHTs and Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs).
- Community Death reporting with a focus on conducting community verbal autopsies for any maternal and perinatal deaths.
- Family Planning with a focus on increasing uptake of FP among adolescents 15-19 years through the youth peers.
- Nutrition with a focus on creating 450 Care groups of mothers of children 0-23 months to improve Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Feeding practices (MIYCAN).
- Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene with a focus on improving latrine and handwashing coverage at the household level.
- Malaria with a focus on integrating malaria services during integrated outreaches, referrals, and integrate malaria prevention messaging in group Antenatal, care groups and during household visits.
